I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years qualified experience of working with people with mental health problems.

One in four people in any given year will be affected by mental health problems. This may be the result of long standing issues or more recent events or can often be a combination of these things. We all try our best to cope with difficult experiences but sometimes the way we cope can lead to problems too. Sometimes we have run out of ways of coping, feel stuck and overwhelmed. We all need some extra help at times like this.

I can offer you psychological therapy to help if you are experiencing problems relating to:

As a Clinical Psychologist I am able to offer you a comprehensive psychological assessment and formulation. Clinical Psychologists have the training and expertise to use this information to develop integrative therapy packages. The choice of therapy will be informed by the evidence base, the Psychologist’s areas of expertise and your own preferences. My therapy preferences are:

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) – there is now a strong evidence base for CBT for most mental health problems, including anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) – helps people explore and resolve ambivalence about making changes in their lives. There is an evidence base in many areas, for example substance misuse, physical health, eating disorders. MI can be helpful in resolving many different types of dilemmas.

Mindfulness – is a type of meditation that helps people learn to stay in the moment. There is an evidence base for use in chronic pain, and now in mental health especially depression. Mindfulness is a useful skill for everyone.

Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT) – an evidence based therapy for people with longstanding, difficult patterns of relationships which have resulted in unhelpful ways of coping. DBT can be useful in helping people find other ways of managing difficult and powerful emotions.
